omg i typed the whole thing click post then.. ERROR. lucky i copied part of it. zz.

had no time to blog till today laa. yesterday go out till so late. ha. yesterday was pretty fun, a bunch of us went to yvonne's house to surprise her. =) cheryl gave joel the keys so we got in then all hid.. then when she came into the house and turn on the lights we SCREAMED 'SURPRISE!!' And it was SUPER loud la my eardrums were going to burst. heh so fun. anyway, teeemo took a video which i'll link from here.

ok i realised my blog is... hmm. famous isn't the word. It doesnt receive alot of hits everyday so it isn't famous. Well, people whom i don't know are viewing it periodically. Once in a while perhaps when they're bored. I don't know how in the world they link here but they come by.

Then yesterday during ME class , Mrs Kang (if you can recall, she's my lousy J1 GP teacher whom i complained about before), suddenly said 'alan you are a blogger right?'
I cautiously nodded my head. How the hell. I think it was probably in some past lesson i spoke up for blogging that's why.
I certainly hope she doesnt read my blog. Well, don't think she has the time. And even if she did.. well she IS lousy and needs to change. That's what everyone taught by her knows but can't do anything about because she holds some power in the staff board and a petition or anything won't work.



anyway, today's PE was spastic.
We were late for PE because Teehao(noob) misread an sms and thought PE was in the hall, when it was actually his volleyball training that was in the hall. Then he's PE Rep so he told everyone to go to the hall when we should have been at the track.
Then by the time we cleared up the miscommunication, we were 20 minutes late for PE.

And the oh-so-wonderful and brilliant Mr Chua mY PE Teacher made us sit in the sun for.. just about the whole PE.

HOW CONSTRUCTIVE.

hello, Physical Education is called that for a purpose. And sitting in the sun is.. tanning. That's.. Tai-Tai Education. At least run some rounds around the track or .. pushups or something. SOMETHING that trains yourself!!

Ok i know some of you are probably cursing me in your head or something or thinking i'm crazy why would i want 'extra' punishment.. but
Firstly, i like to exercise and exercising is a good way to lose weight so there. We only have 2 hours of PE every week, and assuming we don't exercise on our own.. so wasting a lesson by doing that is stupid and unhealthy.
Secondly, it's not as if we deliberately went late, or we were sloppy. A simple case of miscommunication. And for that you screw whatever you have planned for the lesson and get the class to sit down for the whole period? It's not even a SERIOUS mistake, like we completely pon PE.
It's like the McDonalds staff gives you chilli instead of ketchup and the manager punishes the fella by making him hold chilli packets in his hand for one hour.

Lastly, what kind of lousy noob punishment is sitting down in the sun? That's the kinda punishment you give to primary school kids who have too much free time. Time is precious - if you don't want to let us exercise then let us go off man. noob.

I think the strongest argument is the second one, i mean, it's not even our fault. It's not even an INTENTIONAL mistake. (ok after re-reading i think intentional is an oxymoron, there's no such thing as an intentional mistake anyway. what the heck just emphasize my point.)
Just a little grace and understanding would have let any teacher just scold the students for 5 minutes then continue with games or some PE programme. But i guess my teacher had none of that and had to resort to his illogical punishment.

Oh well.

Magic Journal Part 1.5

Mm just a quick entry to my magic journal - i'm practising a particular card vanish sequence. It's pretty amazing if i can pull it off well, but i need ALOT of practice. Grawl.

Think i'll postpone the perfecting of Invisible Palm, i need to work on better performing confidence, will just use my simple tricks to build that up first. Practise card vanishes! =)

NO PORK

Ok first just a brief clarification of my previous magic trick Bizarre Twist - there were no camera stoppages during the trick - e.g. when i was shaking the cards. No editting at all. Just paste the videos together + narration.

Once upon a time, there lived a mouse named Justin. He was a normal mouse living in a mousehole which was connected to the rest of his mice community's mouseholes. He went to Mouse Sanctuary, where they worshipped great mice of the past, such as Jerry, who is known to have escaped countless number of times from a mean feline predator known as Tom. Rumour has it that Jerry met his doomsday when he became complacent and ate alot of food and became fat and slow , and Tom caught him and ate him up.

At the Mouse Sanctuary, he had many other mice friends. There was a particular brown mouse, Amber, who was very attractive, and Justin liked her alot. She had a shiny coat of fur and her tail was long and seductive. Her eyes glistened in the dark wondrously and seemed to call out to any potential mates.
However, she was also known to have a short temper. If any mice made any uncalled for approaches, she would ignore that mouse for a long time.
Knowing this, Justin was afraid to go near her, although the look of her twirly tail made his knees go weak.

Justin also had a good mouse buddy called Rob. He was Justin's childhood friend, and they had braved mousetraps and brooms together.

One day he told Rob about his attraction towards Amber, and his response was "Oh just go up to her and grab her tail. This will let her know you like her and hopefully she likes you."
Justin: "I can't be so direct!! Grr your advice is always like this. Lousy."

Then that same day, Amber actually came over to him and touched his tail! He was totally surprised as he never thought she would like him. (Grabbing another mouse's tail is the mice's way of showing affection) 'Is she going to grab my tail?' he thought.
He decided to stop waiting and he grabbed her tail instead. She suddenly jumped and gave him a whip in the face. (Whipping another mouse in the face is like a slap) She scuttered off quickly.

Amber never ever came within 30cm of Justin again. Even when they were in Mouse Sanctuary, Amber would sit 30cm away, which was 5 rows of mousechairs. Justin was heartbroken and dejected.

He fell sick and didn't go to Mouse Sanctuary for several weeks. Rob sent him mousenotes by rapping on the walls to check on him. Justin replied the mousenotes to let Rob know he was ok. But he also said that he was trying to get over Amber, so he should avoid even seeing her.

So one month passed, and Justin was feeling alot better. He even joined Mouse-Adventure-Club, where they had weekly sessions to steal cheese from mousetraps, and he was one of the best cheese-stealer in the club. However, it must be noted that cheese stealing/hunting is an extremely dangerous sport, and every adventure could lead to death easily.
He was enjoying his life alot more, and when he went to Mouse Sanctuary, he didn't see Amber either.

Then one day, while hunting for cheese, he saw another mouse with its leg trapped in a mousetrap. Running over, he tried to pry the spring up to free his fellow mouse friend.
"Please help me!" The mouse moaned in pain.
Something was familiar about that voice. He turned around and saw a beautiful coat of brown fur. He looked up and stared into the twinkly eyes of Amber, which were brimming with tears. He hesitated for a second, before she let out another cry of pain. He quickly mustered all his strength and lifted the spring, and she got free.

"Oh thank you so much Justin! Thank you thank you!" she gratefully exclaimed. As she walked past him, her fingers brushed his tail. He flinched. 'Not again!' he thought.

The next week, Amber looked up Justin, and said "Hey, could you go on a cheese hunting trip with me? I would like to go on one! Please?"

Justin looked warily at her. Was he going to risk his life with this girlmouse that broke his heart?
He shrugged his shoulders, eyes to the floor, and softly replied:

"Alright. Let's go."

Magic Journal Part 1

This will be the first of a series of blog entries that tracks my progress in ... well, magic. =) My end goal is:
Perform 10 times to strangers on the street - minimum 2 people in audience per performance.

wahahah. i know this is an insane goal. but i shall achieve it by the end of this year! =) I hope.

Had my . . 1st actual performance in church today, just to danchoo and shawn. Pulled off the Bizarre Twist (video below) rather cleanly, left them clueless =)
Then flopped totally on the Invisible Palm. :/ But oh well, it was a lesson learnt, angles are important. Please don't reveal any of my tricks if you know how they're done!! =D

I'll keep a log on my progress, more for me to keep track of what i'm doing. THe blog post will be titled 'magic journal part #' for posts like these.

Things to do by this week:
1) Perfect Bizarre Twist, Invisible Palm.
2) Practise Coin Matrix.. need to learn the sleight properly.
3) Practise a certain sleight which is all-so-important =) Let's just call it the DL.

haven't posted in a while.. because past few days i've been obsessed with my new hobby. =) Well it's an old hobby , just that i forgot about it then after watching some stuff the interest came back.

=) Have been practising card tricks so much that my mom is nagging me for playing with cards too much when in the past was just nagging about computer. =)

finally, went to church after 2 weeks of absence, though i was (and am) still pretty much sick as you guys could see.

quite interesting to see the current trend of 'new and different haircuts', not the standard 'trimshort' haircuts. cheryl's hair is damn cool haha. i shall keep touching her slope at the back of her head to disturb her hah. but she didnt seem very disturbed when i did it once or twice today.

meh, sunday school taken by uncle ronald AGAIN?? and in the library AGAIN? Firstly i already had him 2 years ago, and next i had the library 3 years ago. sheesh. he isn't exactly the most exciting/interesting of teachers -_- zzz
he and aunty diana have this weird habit of taking various verses from all over the place to make a point.seems pretty weird to me though, seems totally out of context in some cases.

so good to see everyone again though. kudos to those who talked to me today =)


had worship ministry meeting after sunday school.. was ultra boring. was basically the discussion of what both services wanted worship to be.. and how it would work out. Alot of 1st service vs 2nd service. btw i think this sequential service thing is .. pointless. what is the rationale? do they really think 2nd service people will come earlier AND interact with the 1st service people. Coming earlier is already a difficult requirement, throw in the interaction .. sounds pretty hard to achieve.
uncle freddy was also pretty contradictory when he started off with "there should be no 'they' and 'us', for the 1st and 2nd service, we should be together and united as one church" because before that uncle william or ivin or someone made some references like that.
then as he carries on speaking he says something like "i dont know how you guys do it, but we blabla bla"

He already made the distinction himself.

I think the church is trying to overachieve here. Can they say that amongst the 1st service and 2nd service alone, the members are all very tight? I think not. So to make this worse, they try to get everyone to know each other?


anyway, i made a challenge to god on friday. I dont know if all of you know but perhaps some do, i always had the question 'what is the point of praying for someone to recover from a sickness when even if you dont pray he will recover (e.g. non-christians)'
I told God - if prayer works, heal me by saturday. And i'll be convinced.

I'm still sick.

misdedicated songs on radio

heh this was brought to my attention by teehaoo (my classmate) and i checked it out and it was really true! =)

Well ok you know on stations like 987FM etc , they have song dedications? And people call in to dedicate songs to their friends, colleagues, etc?

Well, some ignorant boyfriends / girlfriends have called in and made a big blunder - they dedicate a song which they thought was some sort of love song to their partner..

e.g. 'I would like to dedicate Irreplaceable to my darling suzie! i love her so!'

Well you know how sometimes when you listen to songs, you only catch one line from the song, e.g. the title of the sing or the chorus or something like that. Well the last line of the chorus of Beyonce's Irreplaceable goes: "You're irreplaceable"

Sounds pretty sweet right? boyfriend telling girlfriend she's irreplaceable. WELL NO. Look at the whole chorus:

HAHAHHAHA OWNED. If the girlfriend actually hears the song carefully.. hahaha the relationship is OVER.


Another funny one which is more subtle, you need to actually hear the lyrics more clearly and in context to realise it's not what it seems to be. I pity those couples who dedicate these songs to each other ^^

Ever heard of Hinder's 'Lips of an Angel'? Sounds like a pretty sweet love song, if you just hear the chorus by itself:

the bug.

rawr. my series of tests are OVER. First time since school started that i dont have 'the next test' to mug for. FEEL SO FREE.
haha. but sooner or later it's going to come again. grawl. but for now, =D

wa , today at sch was so malu-ating. First at GP because i was sitting nearest to the teacher then she go and take my Application Question response and put on the visualizer to give us example of how to mark. Then well my AQ is crappy apparently then everyone laugh at some parts ahhh. so malu 18 girls leh.
Then then , during PE we played basketball, then i missed like 3 open shots!!! Like lan di one!!! arghhh so malu . hide my face until nowhere to hide. dig a hole in the ground. sian. supposed to 100% those shots close eye also can score. grrr.


bah, so many friends faling sick now. The flu bug is on his wave again. I know of at least 5 ppl who are sick la, and that is alot compared to the usual zero. >.< get well soon guys/girls!

Hi yo. just so if anyone is concerned and ask 'why you never come church?':

this morning i went for the boringdull edusave bursary award ceremony thing. it started at 10am and i calculated if it lasted 1hr or so, by the time i get to church it'll be like 11.45 or something. So i figured i wouldn't go.
Then guess what the stupid ceremony ended in 45 minutes! Argh i could have made the start of sunday school. But i didnt bring change or bible or anything at all.. so just decided to go home, since i wasn't going to stay on after church anw as i needed to study.

Spent most of the afternoon trying to study math- integration. I can't do like most of these questions in a package my teacher gave us. I'm so dead .. i have a math test on integration tmr. argh.

Watched survivor! Yea i found another great site besides freeshows.bs , has many many tv shows that can be watched via streaming, ask me if you wanna know =) kudos to chris for finding it =) Yea i more or less finished survivor , just need to watch the finale last part and reunion =) I liked how it ended. Quite nicely.
Don't worry i'm a nice person i won't spoil YOU.

air con singapore.

It's COLD.

I think it's going to start snowing in Singapore.
Since it started raining again 2 days ago, the temperature has dropped to a freaking low one.

Well usually i sleep with the windows wide open, without my shirt, fan on and sometimes even not oscillating so that it blows directly at me, and sometimes without blanket cos it's hot.
Last night i slept with a shirt, the fan off, the window half closed, and im hiding as much as i can underneath the blanket.
REALLY DAMN COLD CAN!!

I think soon there will be frost on my walls. This morning when i was bathing in warm water, i could see the steam.. or whatever you call it.. water vapour forming all around the warm water or something. Then the mirror was totally fogged up because it was probably ice cold and the water was warm.


Anyway, yesterday was CCA Signup day at SAJC.. and there were like 30 over J1s who signed up for Strategy Club la. hahaha. and most if not all were awed by how slack the club is. My pitch was:
"We play chess.. card games.. board games.. whatever you want lor."
Then their usual reply is:
"Can we play something else other than what you ask us to play.. like i dunno how to play chess.."
Then i'll respond:
"Er you can play anything you want, you just take from the cupboard and play."

Then there was this girl who asked: "Can we play bridge"
my response: "Ya of course.. we just give you the cards you can play whatever you want ma"
And she literally SCREAMED in excitement and started jumping aroud and calling her friends to come join. haha. apparently bridge is quite a hot game among the j1s.. alot of people join because can play cards. wahaha.

Then one entire OG signed up together =) Steady sia. i wish my OG was that tight.


oh well, but this is just the first intake. The more important one will be the 2nd intake. Need to think of how to make the activity slightly more structured so people won't think it's ultraduperuber slack when it's just supposed to be super slack. hahaha.
Got to know 2 people too, played bridge with 2 SAS guys, one i knew through chess last time, and a St Margs girl who's the super talkative hyper type. haha.

They both care very much about every single human being living. god knows how familiar, or UNfamiliar, you are with Ezekiel 33:11, 1 Timothy 2:4 and 2 Peter 3:9. all of which say plain as daylight that human life is highly valued by God. even wretched, wicked lives. how can you bear to take so lightly something God takes so seriously?
and how can you just throw away something Jesus died for?

If your friend died for you, he'd have wanted you to live your life for him, for his sake, to live safe and peaceful, that's what he died for.

WAa... deep eh.
Anyway i'm assuming that anonymous is some random passerby who will most probably never pass by again so i don't know why i'm writing this, but just in case he's actually a friend of mine or if anyone thought that i was feeling suicidal or something like that.. well.. NO!

I wasn't trying to devalue life or anything like that - the theme of the poem was basically highlighting the ills of human life, the many things we do that we seem to know the dangers of but we still do them. So using a tone of sarcasm, i'm trying to convey a message something like.. 'sounds stupid? well it's what you've been doing.'

There was something like this written by some super zhai poemwriter in Singapore.. her poem was published in the ST cos it won some prestigious prize.. was also using a tone something like this.. but of course her vocab was more colourful and her poem more.. literature-zhainess-like.
Her tone was something like 'Look at those African children on television, with their bloated tummys and ribs protruding. Well it doesn't matter, the government is just trying to get sympathy for them, so turn off that television, and throw away that plate of food you can't finish because you're full.'

I can't remember the exact wording, it was more concise and more impactful. I really liked that poem but i have no idea what the title is or what award it won or what her name was. so. :(


Anyway, GP class has just taken a drastic improvement.. my old unreasonable lousy (expletivecensored) GP Teacher is no longer my teacher!

Well SAJC is trying some new system where the GP classes are split into 3 streams.. basically lousy, normal, and good la. Remedial, Mainstream and Differentiated they call it.
I suay suay kena the Differentiated one cos my Promos GP grade quite good then the teacher go recommend me.

THEN.like the majority of the class are in mainstream, and they have a pretty teacher!! walao. so unfair. then i kena this class where there are 2 guys and 18 girls. arhhghghhghg. (i'm not pretending.) (well. ) (yes i'm not!) (always get saboed one ok. like who present? oh the only guy lor!)

Ok ignore the text in parentheses i don't know what i'm talking about. Anyway, the class is SO much better than the old class. which had zero teaching and zero progress and i learn effectively nothing from any of the classes last year. cos the teacher sucks.
This class is like.. woah. I like how the teacher conducts the class man. As i said to my classmates : "This is my first actual GP lesson in my JC life !"

aliens are invading

1) alwyn (pewi) says he's going to stop playing dota and uninstall warcraft in about 2 weeks' time, as he want to spend more time studying
(he averaged about 10 hours a day on comp during hols i think)

2) christabel says she's gonna try sleeping at 9pm and she plan to study 2 hours a day excluding homework.
(she averaged sleeping time of 4am during hols, dont know how much she studies on normal days but don't think it's close to that)

3) daniel choo is wearing a pink sweater on his MSN pic and he is watching a show on aliens.
(well ok not aliens, but about ppl with special abilities. similar! and he said before he would never wear pink though he likes pink)


These are just several instances of abnormal activity of my friends. You know what i think ? Aliens have kidnapped these people and replaced them with almost identical duplicates -- except for their habits.
Are they going to come for me next?

ok was trying to blog last night, but my computer wouldn't let me log into blogger. i also can't access Google website, so i suppose it's googles' problem. (the new blogger is powered by Google or something. it sucks and there isn't much difference so DONT transfer to the new Googleaccount of blogger!)

First day of school sucked, plunged right into lessons. And got to know of 3 tests that are coming up as well as deadline for chemistry homework which is.. today. So i spent THREE freaking hours yesterday afternoon just COPYING a friend's work.. (i read through the question and tried to understand the answer also la of course) imagine how long i'd take if i did it alone.
I actually took a photo or two of the 14 pages of fullscrap paper of Chem.. but since i'm blogging from school comp obviously i don't have the photos.

So now as we have a 3 and a half hour break (1 and a half hours is Chinese.. which is passe) .. my classmates are all chionging chem.. then since i already did everything i came to the comp lab.

Man the J1s must be having so much fun.. i can hear them cheernig from my 3rd floor classroom. Orientation was always a tiring yet extremely fun occasion. Enjoy yourselves peeps.

ZzZzZz. I'm surprisingly not affected at all by the reduced sleeping hours.. was sleeping at least 8 hours, average 9 hours a day of sleep a day for the entire hols (besides BAY CAMP), now i'm just sleeping 6 hours or less. I'm still not falling asleep or anything. woot.

the art of SMSing

Tired of short sms replies?
Don't know how to make your sms-es longer and more replyable?

This is the post to read! If you have friends who always send you short replies/smses and you're irritated and you want them to send a longer sms.. ask them to read this post! =)

What i'm going to say may seem extremely common-sense to you, but in lieu of those who still send short SMSes and because i'm bored, i'm still gonna say it =)


Now what i'm going to do is basically describe what makes a good sms, in my opinion. It may be completely different from what you think, but it is what i believe. This is under the assumption that you are not a totally boring person - i'm just giving you the skeleton of the SMS, the content is up to you. =)


For an ideal SMS*, there should be 3 components to it. The Answer, the Bait, and the Flair.

1) The Answer
One of the first things or at least the most important things you must do in your SMS is to answer whatever questions asked by the other party! There's no point typing a 3 sms long reply but you ignore any questions the other person asks, it's vexxing not to have a question answered.
This is not restricted to answering questions-- you can also just give a comment about something that was said by the other party.

2) The Bait
Ok this is a bad name, but i couldn't think of any other catchy name for this component. This is basically including in your SMS something that the other party can reply about.
2a) Personal Sharing
Share either something related to what the other party has been saying or something new and random. (e.g. i just cut my hair.. zz it's super short)
2b) Question
Ask a question! Can be related to what you said or what the other person said but if you have a question in your SMS, the other party will surely have something to reply about.
Basically, just have something that the other party can comment about or reply to. I think this is the most important part of an SMS.


3) The Flair
This is a very abstract component - it's basically adding your own flair to the SMS. This can be in the form of a joke, some kind of teasing, your own lingo, just something to personalise the SMS and make it 'YOU' :)

Not every single SMS needs to have all of these components -- e.g. some may have have 2 of them only, some may have 1.


Ok now to give you a real life example for better illustration. This was an SMS exchange between me and christabelllll. heh hope she's ok with me posting the SMSes here i never really asked her. Her SMSes most of the time fulfil all 3 of the above =) This just happened recently and it isn't the best of examples but .. just post lor.

happy new year

woo the past 2 days were pretty fun.

saturday was a day of basketball, it didnt rain for once! then again, i think the rainy season is over, and now comes the hot season.
Played like shit during bball though. :/ bleahz. need to train my strength so i can qie better. exercise!!!

Went to AMKs11 to eat with whoever was there, had yummy chickenchop + fried carrot cake. jesslyn was excellent table entertainment! =) She does this.. vibrating thing when she is laughing. Like her whole body is vibrating. Then there was once this insect landed on her hand.. then she froze and started vibrating and going 'EEe!! eee!!'
haha super cute la she. then i wanted to help her but gabs stop me then she continue vibrating. wahaha. then she go and flick the insect towards our food !! stupidgirl!
Then we tried to get her to finish her food.. took some pictures of her covering her mouth and trying to resist the tickles and pokes of joel and gabs. but my stupid bluetooth dongle isn't working.. so.. oh well. Quite funny can make her dance.. Don't even have to touch her one. haha.

Sunday morning went by pretty fast, was a little stressful as was trying to settle lydia's pres which is a nice brand new classical guitar =) hope she likes it. (shared with other ppl la i not so rich)

Then at night there was all night worship! haha shiok man play drums for so long. Play until got Feeeeling.
k i'm lazy to type everything that happened, but there was a highlight: police came to arrest us!!



haha ok no but they did come, because of some complaint from some resident that we were making too much nice. Was either the street bandy ppl yelling and shouting or was our worship session too loud or something. But quite cool. haha. i always had this fantasy of snatching the policeman's gun from his pocket. wahaha. dunno why.


Woo, about 36 hours to school start, and i haven't even done 1/3 of my holiday homework. =) next few days should be fun. RUSH RUSH RUSH. wahaha. for now.. i'll enjoy my january 1st.
